Made it to Minnesota!

With everything happening in China, it's like a ghost town. I figured since it's so quiet and nothing is moving at this time, I would make a quick trip back to Minnesota to visit family and friends, and see snow for the first time in 7 years.
It's extremely cold here but that's to be expected. I got to see two of my best friends and watch the Superbowl. After not sleeping in a bed for three days, I finally was able to get 11 hours of sleep, more than I've gotten in years!
While I'm visiting Minnesota, my thoughts keep wondering back to China. Guangzhou is my HOME. I've spent the past 6.5 years building a life there and I appreciate all of the opportunities I've been given as well as all the wonderful friends I've made. It scares and worries me that my friends' businesses will be affected long-term because of the virus outbreak. I also worry about all the racism and xenophobia being spread and how it hurts my Chinese friends.
I've been fortunate to make a lot of Chinese friends and a lot of my foreign friends have Chinese partners. It pains me to hear of people bashing China and Chinese people. I understand that there is a lot of blame going around. But let's remember that China's people are victims. This is a result of few uneducated people who eat wild animals. Keep in mind that people all around the world eat wild animals. China as a whole does not eat bats. Come on. Don't blame a whole country for what a few people do. And this could happen anywhere.
Sadly, we have had to postpone our trip to Seoul. We will still go, of course. Right now it's important that we are responsible and do as the government advises, which is not travel around Asia. We will keep you posted on the documentary progress. It will go on!
